Audrey Stecker, 81, of Menasha passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Heritage Hospice Residence after a brief battle with cancer.
Audrey was born on February 20, 1930 to Frederick and Mollie (Bornemann) Alten in Chilton. She married Wayne Stecker on July 30, 1955 in Chilton. Together they enjoyed dancing and were members of the Merry Makers. Audrey enjoyed working at Memorial Florist for over 20 years until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping and an occasional trip to the casino. Audrey also liked playing cards with her high school friends; Pat and Yvonne. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and those times will always be treasured.
Audrey is survived by her son, Brian Stecker of Neenah and his children; Tara (Craig) Jones and Hayden Stecker, her daughter Gail (Don) Burrows of Vinland, her son, Scott Stecker of Menasha, and his children; Brooke and Jake, her son, Todd (Debbie) Stecker of Darboy and their children; Sam and Meghan Stecker, a brother Olan (Lu) Alten, sisters-in-law; Irene Alten, Eleanor Stecker, Juanita Ruh and Beth Stecker, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, a son, Bruce, brothers; Jerome, Frederick, Marvin, Douglas (Ione), a sister, Ruth (Herman) Burbey, brothers-in-law; Gerald, Lyle and Woody, a niece, Arlis Wagner and a nephew, Dan Stecker
The funeral service for Audrey will be on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH (300 Broad St. Menasha) at 5:00 PM. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the time of services at the Church.
The family would like to thank Cherry Meadows Hospice and the Heritage Residential Hospice for all they did and Aunt Lu and Uncle Olan for their daily visits.
Mom, Thanks for always being there for me, Todd. Debbie, Sam, Meghan and I sure loved you.
Mom, you have always been my biggest supporter and it hurts to think how very much I will miss you, and all the times we spent together, until we see each other again I love you, Gail. Audrey, you were the best mother-in-law any one could ever have and I will miss you, Don.
