Arvin J. Hesse, age 94, of Appleton, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017. He was born on July 2, 1923 to the late Samuel and Clara (Fockel) Hesse. Arvin spent his early years on the family farm in Seymour, Wisconsin. Upon his father’s passing the family moved to Appleton. Arvin was employed with Fox River Paper Company as a Machine Tender of Machine #5. After thirty-nine years he retired in 1985 (enjoying thirty-two years of retirement).
Arvin married the love of his life, Dorothy May Tarala on September 13, 1947. This year would have marked their 70th Wedding Anniversary.
In his younger years Arvin enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, boating and always took great pride in his lawn. He was a member to the Quarter Century Club - Fox River Paper Company and Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Appleton. Above all Arvin cherished time spent with his family.
Arvin will be greatly missed by his wife, Dorothy; his three children, Sam (Cindi) Hesse of Winneconne, Susan (John) Lemon of Greenville and Jeff (Debbie) Hesse of Greenville; his grandchildren, Eric Hesse, Michele Hilvers, Abbie Shaw and Josh Hesse; step-grandchildren, Johna Berger, Jodi Gunckle and Krista Alf; fourteen great grandchildren and step great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Arvin is further survived by many other family members and friends too numerous to list but never forgotten.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Fern Segel and his brother, Vernon Hesse.
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Arvin’s name. Online condolences can be shared at: www.wichmannfargo.com.
