Arlene Ruth Titus

August 9, 1930 — May 7, 2022

Appleton

Arlene Ruth Titus, 91 Appleton, gently passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Appleton. Arlene was born on August 9, 1930 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Alvin and Helen Kollmorgan.

The life Arlene lived created a ripple effect. Arlene had a strength and a spunk that many loved and admired. She loved fiercely, gave freely, and worked tirelessly. She was able to be right there in the thick of things with people a quarter of her age. When she slowed down a skosh she was not afraid to supervise the activities. Arlene’s passions included tending to her flowerbeds, feeding the birds, sewing, and her family.

Arlene was vastly selfless and fearless. She led by example, and always had to make sure things were squared away. There would always be fresh cookies made catered to the people that were coming to visit. The sandbox would be open and ready for use, and the lake would be weed free for all of the swimming activities. She was still doing all of these things a year ago. She would have sewing projects ranging from making towels, dish rags, mending - to crocheting slippers, pajamas, clothing, and quilting.

One of her Great Grandchildren with a little bit of a stutter and a lisp would always yell when things ripped or became broken in any way - “Great Grandma fits it”. When her husband, Donald W. Titus, became sick, she made the choice to move out of the Fond du Lac house they had called their home for over fifty years and move into the lake house they had built together.

When asked how she overcame difficulties she would just shrug and say, “I don’t know I just did it”. Arlene passed down these core values to her children, who in turn passed to their children, and who are now passing down to their children. Her legacy created a breed of people that are strong, fearless, hardworking, freely giving, and deeply loving. Arlene’s time here created a lasting ripple.

Arlene is survived by her children: Deborah Titus Nelsen, Donna Titus Kreuter, and Donald W. Titus JR and his wife, Teresa Perron Titus; her brother: Ralph Kollmorgan; her sister-in-law: Jewel Kollmorgan; her grandchildren: Soren Nelsen, Elizabeth Nelsen, Kacey Kreuter, Sarah Kreuter Topie, Christian Kreuter, Alana Titus Tesch, Natalie Titus Anderson, Wesley Titus, Spencer Titus, Ethan Titus, Jennifer Rohan Nelsen, Gina Aho Kreuter, Charlie Tesch, Erik Topie, Jesse Anderson, Desiree Kuehl Titus, and Angie Siegel; her great grandchildren: Quinn Nelsen, Titus Nelsen, Ella Nelsen, Kate Nelsen Connor Kreuter, Kenzy Kreuter, Rivers Topie, Talon Tesch, Wyatt Tesch, Griffin Tesch, Nina Titus, Nyomi Titus, and another great-grandson on the way. She was predeceased by her husband: Donald W. Titus SR; her granddaughter: Leah Nelsen; her brother: Harold Kollmorgan; and her son-in-law, Dale Nelsen.

Arlene will be laid to rest next to her husband, Donald W. Titus SR, at Rienzi Cemetery in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
