Anthony “Bud” L. Haag, Sr., age 82, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 2, 2012. He was born in Milwaukee on August 29, 1929 the son of the late Anthony Charles and Madeline (Wagner) Haag. On February 14, 1953 he married “the love of his life,” his wife of 59 years, Joan “Red Head” Steidtmann. Tony was proud to serve during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy. He had many careers including: machinist and Superintendent at Mercury Marine in Cedarburg, and a Millwright with Local 1056 in the Fox Valley, retiring in 1995. Tony loved to bowl, woodwork, oil paint, and especially playing horseshoes. He will be remembered for the love and “patience” he had for his family and his faith in God.
Tony is survived by his wife, Joan; children: Shari (Don) Spaeth, Christine (Dave) Miller, Anthony L. Haag, Jr., Meg (Dale) Flowers, Carol Peterson, Gerald (Tracey) Haag, Susan (Todd) Close, and Cynthia (John) Noll; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters: Gertrude Nesser and Therese DeHay; brother, Joe (Cathy) Haag; and son-in-law, Dan Callies. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Callies; infant son, Mark; and sisters: Bernadette Literski and Mary Newell.
The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
