Anne Zahumensky

ZAHUMENSKY, ANNE

On the morning of December 4, Anne Zahumensky peacefully entered eternal life as promised in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall never perish but have eternal life.”

Anne served her Lord Jesus, as a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend for 91 years. For many years she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member, teaching about Jesus and praising God. She was employed by Dayton-Hudson, in Detroit, for 37 years.

Anne was born on July 11, 1917 in Hamtramck, Michigan, the daughter of John and Katherine Zahumensky. She resided in Detroit until moving to Appleton in 1998.

Anne is survived by her sister: Susan Remias, Appleton; her two nieces: Susan (Rev. Robert) Balza, Appleton and Elizabeth (Rev. Gene) Jahnke, Sarona, WI; her nephew: Stephen (Roberta) Remias, Shelby Township, MI; grand-nieces and nephews: Ruth (Doug) Gurgel, Lake Mills; Dr. Robert (Nicole) Balza, Jr., Menomonee Falls; Jonathan Balza, Wauwatosa; Joanna Balza, Mpumalanga, South Africa; Geoff Jahnke, Seoul, South Korea; Heather Jahnke, Sarona; Laura Jahnke, Sarona; Jennifer (Adam) Gunckle, Plymouth, MI; Katie Remias, Shelby Township and Stephen M. Remias, Shelby Township; as well as a great grand-nephew, Zachary Jahnke, and two great grand-nieces: Julia Balza and Mira Gurgel. She is further survived by other family members and friends.

Anne's whole family would like to thank everyone at Oakridge Gardens for their gentle, loving care of our beloved sister and aunt.

The Christian Funeral Service for Anne will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 8, 2008 at ETERNAL LOVE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1011 E. Midway Road, Appleton. The Rev. Robert Balza will be officiating. Interment will take place at Community Lutheran Cemetery, Freedom. The visitation will be held at the Wichmann Funeral Home – Tri County Chapel on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 pm and again at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Eternal Love Lutheran Church are appreciated.
