Anne Marie
Swiontek
May 13, 1952 — May 24, 2026
Anne Marie Swiontek, age 74 passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at Theda Care in Appleton. She was born on May 13, 1952, to the late John and Catherine (Quella) Swiontek and grew up in Menasha with her 6 siblings. She raised her son Andrew in the same family homestead in which she grew up and lived for the rest of her life. She graduated from St Mary High School in Menasha.
Anne worked as a customer service specialist for Morgan Door as well as Pacon Corporation, and waitressed several years to supplement her income.
When Anne was very young, she was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect of two holes in her heart. At the time there was no fix for this issue, referred to as “Blue Baby” because of the lack of oxygen upon exertion. However, when she was 7 years old, she underwent pioneering surgery to repair her heart at UW Madison Hospital. The local newspaper covered the story and updated her progress in numerous articles. Anne was famous! She continued with follow-up visits throughout her life, all with reports of good news. Despite having a rough start, she lived a long and healthy life.
With Christ as her savior and her deep faith in God Anne faced life and its challenges with a confident and positive outlook. The St Mary Menasha church family was incredibly important to her and she found great joy in serving there in various capacities. Anne always started and ended her day in prayer and was a prayer warrior on behalf of so many others.
She loved being a “Big Sister” to Jamie, a young local girl in the ‘80’s, and later in life volunteered at Pillars homeless shelter.
Anne was kindhearted and valued family and friends dearly. She met and made many treasured friends along the way and loved getting together with those people throughout the years. She enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Ladies.
Life-long neighbor and friend Peggy, and long-time friend Candi, whom Anne met early in her work career and traveled with frequently, along with so many others were true blessings in her life.
A special thank you to Steve Hermsen and thoughtful neighbors who so willingly helped with odd jobs for her.
Anne is survived by her son Andrew Swiontek, whom she always looked forward to seeing, and cherished the time spent with him.
She is also survived by her siblings Thomas (Marilyn Swiontek), Elizabeth Rontino, Anthony “Tony” Swiontek, Regina “Jean” (Jeffrey) Huffman, Christine (Claude) Foster and Marie (Dwight) Mueller. In addition, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her bother-in-law Vito Rontino, and sister-in-law Dawn Swiontek.
