Anna Hagany, age 95, passed away at the ThedaCare Hospice Residence in Appleton on Sunday morning, July 22, 2012. Anna was born in Chicago on June 4, 1917, daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Grems) Niesz. On July 1, 1950, she married Leo Hagany; he preceded her in death in 1998. As a young woman, Anna worked for Kaukauna Klub Cheese for over twenty years, and then lived in Milwaukee for a time. The couple returned to Kaukauna in 1986. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish as well as the VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by a brother: Joe Niesz of Kaukauna; three sisters-in-law: Rosie Niesz of Kaukauna; Ethel Niesz of Little Chute; and Mary Kerkhoff of Little Chute; a brother-in-law: Jack Rogers of Appleton; as well as countless nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo, sisters Kate (Clem) Fink and Mary Rogers; brothers John (Lil) Niesz, Jacob Niesz, Michael Niesz; brothers-in-law Merlin Hagany, and Jack Hagany; and a sister-in-law Annette Niesz.
The funeral liturgy for Anna will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Hollandtown. Friends may visit directly at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the services.
