A Tribute to a Life Well Lived
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Marie Hein (Verkuilen), who departed this world on Friday, June 6th, 2025. Anna was 90 years old at the time of her passing and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and countless cherished memories.
Early Life
Born on February 4th, 1935 in Little Chute, WI, Anna grew up surrounded by the warmth of a large family. Her Parents, John and Anna, raised a family of 10. At the age of 11 she moved to live with Frances and Bob Drephal and became a life long member of 2 families with 13 people she called brother and sister.
Family Life
Anna was devoted to her family, serving as a pillar of strength and a constant beacon of love. She Married Merlin (Spike) Hein (90) in 1960 and they raised a family in Appleton, Their home was always filled with laughter, and Anna] found her greatest joy in the simple moments spent with family. Her sons are John (Amy), Robert (Kathy) and Donald (Erin). Anna’s true joy was in the interaction with her Grandchildren – Alex (Jen), Ben, Kassi (Gus), Ryan and Chloe.
She is survived by a large family of Brothers, Sisters and their children from both the Verkuilen and Drephal Families, who will remember Anna as a Caring and Loving person.

Final Farewell
Anna will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Their legacy will live on through the lives of those they influenced and the memories they leave behind. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the belief that Anna’s spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
A funeral visitation will be held from 9:00 - 10:30 AM on Monday, June 16, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 State St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a mass to follow at 10:30 AM. Anna will be laid to rest with her husband at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, WI.
