Amy T. Gustafson

March 29, 1959 — November 3, 2023

Appleton

Amy T. Gustafson passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2023 with her husband by her side after battling various cancers over the past 21 years.  She was born March 29, 1959 in Waukegan, IL to the late Rudolph and Florence (Tlamka) Janda.  Amy was united in marriage to her soul mate and best friend, Dennis Gustafson, in February of 1984.  She was looking forward to celebrating 40 years of marriage in a few months.

Amy graduated from Horlick High School in Racine, WI and spent her career in the label and printing field until her health no longer allowed her to work.  Amy was an avid gardener, sewer and reader.  She also loved butterflies, especially monarchs.  Her true passion was cooking and more often than not, you could find her in the kitchen making any one of her specialty meals while listening to songs from the 70’s.  Nobody ever passed up a dinner invitation from her!

Amy is survived by and will be deeply missed by her husband Dennis; stepsons, Jim (Penny) Gustafson and Jeff (Dawn) Gustafson; and her grandchildren, Dani and Trevor.  She is further survived by her siblings, Tom (Jill) Janda, Mary (Tim) Strelow, Carl Janda, Pat (Kathy) Janda, Mike Janda, and Roger (Kelly) Janda; her brother-in-law, Oz (Robin) Gustafson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended relatives, and dear friends.

Along with her parents, Amy was preceded in death by her brother Mark; her father-in-law, Carl Gustafson; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Per Amy’s wishes, a private family service will be held, but memorials to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.  The link to which may be found below.  Amy will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton, WI.

The family wishes to thank the Theda Care Appleton Hospital 8th floor staff, Carolina Assisted Living staff, and her Theda Care Hospice team for their outstanding care and compassion.

Whenever you see a monarch butterfly, it’s probably just Amy saying hi!  Rest in peace Famous Amos!
