DREIER, ALVIRA L. “VERA”

Alvira Dreier, of Appleton, age 87, died on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Crestwood Senior Living. She was born on March 3, 1922 in Kaukauna, the daughter of the late August and Alma (Maas) Lopas. Fifty-six years ago today, Alvira married Allan Dreier at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Kaukauna. She was employed at AAL and Dr. Bachhuber's office in Kaukauna. Vera enjoyed collecting cookbooks and had a passion for cooking, gardening and traveling. Allan and she traveled to every state except Alaska. She was a member of Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church and volunteered at the school.

Alvira is survived by her husband: Allan Dreier, Appleton; sons: Mark Dreier, Appleton and Kirk (Lisa) Dreier, Appleton; grandchildren: Ross, Brett and Kali Dreier; sister-in-law: Leora Hooyman, Appleton; brothers-in-law: Roland Choudoir, Appleton and Carlon “Bud” Dreier, Little Chute. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Vera was preceded in death by her brothers: Wilbert (Jane) and Sylvester (Isabelle) Lopas; brother-in-law, Gerald Hooyman and sisters-in-law: Myrtle (Wilbur) Kositzke and Vernice Choudoir.

The Christian Funeral for Alvira will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 E. Florida Ave., Appleton. Rev. Robert Raasch will be officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Memorials to Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church or Fox Valley Lutheran High School are appreciated.
