Allwin Wilber Pellett

May 30, 1928 — May 6, 2022

Appleton

Appleton - Allwin (Al) Pellett passed away May 6, 2022 at Aspire Senior Living – Kimberly, WI.  He was born May 30, 1928, in Viola, Richland County, Wisconsin to Orville and Freda Pellett. Al spent his childhood on the family dairy farm.

After they met at college in Madison Wisconsin, Al married Betty Louise Porter on June 17, 1950. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with two Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Agricultural Engineering.

After graduation, Al worked as a product development engineer for the New Holland Machine Company in Pennsylvania. Following numerous moves, the family eventually located in Appleton Wisconsin where Al concluded his agricultural engineering career. Al then began completely different ventures. As a self-employed engineer, he consulted for many companies in various fields including farm equipment, mechanical power transmission, and crop irrigation (even in Saudi Arabia). During this time, Al also developed formulations for durable protective coatings and launched the final phase of his career as a supplier of coatings and application systems.

Al was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America until recently. He was an active member of the Saint James United Methodist Church of Appleton. Al never truly retired; always dabbling with his coatings, which may be said was his only hobby.

Sadly, Louise passed away four years ago. Al is survived by five children; Glen Pellett (Carol), Wayne Pellett (Sue Jones), Brian Pellett (Robyn Hanshaw), Lorna Mullen (Robert), and Dale Pellett (Theresa). He is further survived by six grandchildren: Mark Pellett (Peggy), Michael Pellett (Jill), Abe Pellett (Robyn), Lucas Pellett (Jacci), Joy De La Cruz (Jake), Jennifer Dial (Derek), Kelly Mullen (Aaron Lyons), Becca Mullen, Gavin Pellett, and Jayna Pellett; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Al will be missed by all acquainted with him. A celebration of life will be held at Wichmann Funeral Home at the Tri-County location, 1592 Oneida St, Menasha, WI 54952 on Tuesday May 31st, 2022 from 9am to noon with a 1pm burial at Riverside cemetery in Appleton WI.
