Allen F. Beaufait, age 84, of Greenville, WI went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday afternoon, August 31, 2009 at Theda Clark Medical Center surrounded by his loving wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Allen was born March 30, 1925 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Loren and Leila (Gilhousen) Beaufait. Following graduation from Lincoln High School in Highland Park, CA, class of 1944 he earned his A.A. Degree in Civil Engineering at Los Angeles City College.
On June 24, 1950 Allen was united in marriage to Joyce Darlene Myers at Forest Lawn Chapel of the Flowers in Forest Lawn, CA. They spent 59 wonderful years together sharing an interest in the outdoors: camping, fishing, hiking, and visiting national parks throughout the country. They shared a love of travel and visited many unique places in the world such as: Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, the Cook Islands, the Hawaiian Islands, England, Scotland, Ireland, the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, and many of the other 48 states. At age 70, he accomplished a long held dream of bicycling solo from Sequim, WA to Hortonville, WI a trip that took him 6 weeks. Allen later completed his 2, 200 mile cross-country bicycle tour from WI to Boston, MA at age 79.
Allen was employed for 32 years at Los Angeles City Bureau of Public Works Engineering where he was a civil engineer that involved major road improvements and worked on the design of the Los Angeles International Airport. Along with his wife, Allen was a member of the Sierra Club, the San Fernando Valley Sailing Club, and the Sequim Bay Yacht Club. He was an avid sailor for many years, competing in numerous yachting events throughout the Western part of the United States.
Allen was very involved in the community where he tutored children from grades 3 to 12 in math, was involved with the Clallam County, WA Committees Zoning and Environment, served as a deacon at Sequim Baptist Church in Sequim, WA, and was a Big Brother to several young boys introducing them to the enjoyment of the outdoors. One of his greatest joys was watching these boys grow into successful young men.
In addition to his wife, Joyce, Allen is survived by his two daughters: Linda Beaufait, of Anchorage, AK and Elaine (Michael) Newlin, of Hortonville, WI; four grandchildren: Elisa (Jason) Puls, Jason (Becky) Sullivan, Jon (Delta) Maruszewski, and Natalie (Chris) Cadieux; 8 great-grandchildren; his brother, L.J. Beaufait; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Allen is preceded in death by his two brothers: Paul and Tristan Beaufait; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: June and Bruce Little.
A Funeral Service in Celebration of his life, faith, and eternal life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009 at APPLETON ALLIANCE CHURCH, 2693 W. Grand Chute Blvd., Appleton, WI. Rev. Allen's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at Theda Clark Medical Center, and especially Jay and Pat Faulks for all their help, love, and support, you truly are like family to us.
Allen's life touched so many people, not only his family but all those who knew him and loved him. He loved his Lord, his family, his friends and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, character, and values. He hoped that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren would remember him as a good grandfather along with the times they spent together.
“Hon, you were my whole world. I want you to know I love you with all my heart and am comforted to know you are with the Lord celebrating all the joy you knew you would have with him and I look forward to the day we're together again.”
– Love, Joyce
