Allan R. Hill

Allan Ray Hill, an Oneida Nation member, aged 76, passed away suddenly on November 22, 2023 after a short battle with prostate cancer. He was born on July 28, 1947 to Violet Hill in Taycheedah, WI. He grew up in Shiocton, WI as a foster child of Myron and Martha Ames and was baptized on June 19, 1959 in Chute Lake in Mountain, WI.

Allan graduated from Shiocton High School in 1965 and served his country in the U.S. Army in 1967-68. He worked 19 years in various positions at Fox Brady/Piper Industries in Appleton, WI; then he worked 17 years as a machinist, shop foreman, & quality control manager at Spencer Johnston/JJ Plank Corp. of Neenah, WI. In 1998 Allan formed his own business, “Al’s Custom Vending,” serving the Fox River Valley area with snacks and soda vending until his passing.

He married the love of his life, Kathryn (Getlinger) Hill on September 22, 1974 and recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. Allan loved adventure, mechanical things, and raising his two precious children, Dixie and Eric Hill. He was known for his teasing, joking spirit and hard-working ethics. He was rarely far from a motorcycle throughout his life and made several memorable long trips on his motorcycle with his wife, son, and grandchildren. Blessed with the speed gene, he raced his Jeep “Savage” multiple years in mud races and won many trophies.

He was always trying to improve his golf score. He also greatly enjoyed watching football, Nascar racing, and golf. He loved shooting sporting clays with his co-workers, children, and grandchildren.

Allan is survived by his wife Kathryn, daughter Dixie (fiance Israel) Hill, son Eric (fiancee Laure) Hill, grandchildren Alana (fiance Tyler) Hill and Rylan Hill; half-siblings Rudy (Jadeen) Webster Jr., Kevin (Mary) Webster, Bruce (Mary) Webster, Gary Webster, Darla Melotte, Rhonda Storzer, and Barbara Webster; brother-in-law Gerald (Sally) Getlinger, sisters-in-law Jenny (James) Kuske and Sarah (Jeff) Kamin with numerous nieces and nephews.

Allan was preceded in death by his birth mother Violet Webster, foster parents Myron and Martha Ames, foster sister Marion (and Tom) Moder; half-siblings Gerald Hill, Donald Webster, Ronald Webster, Rodger Webster, Judith Webster, and Dayna Webster; parents-in-law LaVerne and Carol Getlinger, brothers-in-law Stanley Getlinger and Daniel Getlinger.
