BABY PRAYERS
Every night my little grandchildren
Wearily wend their way upstairs
And old grandpa stands there listening
While they say their prayers.

Lamplight fashions shining halos
For each tiny, tousled head.
Little devils seem like angels
As they kneel beside their bed

Baby voices grow more drowsy
Sleepy eyelids blink and then
God must hide a smile, as I do
When they yawn and say “Amen”
