Appleton

Alan Leigh McCormick, age 75, passed away on February 27, 2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on September 20, 1947 in Island Falls, Maine to Eugene and Eleanor (Hovey) McCormick. Upon graduation from Hodgdon High School in 1965, Alan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and received a Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam. Upon honorable discharge he relocated to Appleton, Wisconsin where he met his wife, Jane. They were married on October 22, 1971 and went on to have two sons. Alan worked for Miller Electric in Appleton, WI and retired after 40 years in 2009.

He enjoyed his retirement years by spending time with his family and his loving cat Luna, who rarely left his lap, listening to music, and watching sports. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers (although he couldn’t stand to watch them on TV), the Boston Red Sox, as well as watching the high school and college basketball tournaments.

Alan is survived by his wife Jane McCormick (nee Hohenwalter), sons Ryan (Alicia) McCormick, Craig (Katie Thorson) McCormick, brothers David (Nancy) McCormick, Joseph (Brenda) McLaughlin, Timothy McLaughlin, and sister-in-law Christine McLaughlin; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Emery McLaughlin, sister Constance (Robert) Uhl, and brothers Thomas McCormack and Patrick McLaughlin.

A Celebration of Alan’s life will be held on Saturday, March 11th 2023 at Wichmann Tri-County Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:30 am – Noon and a brief service with military honors to follow.
