William Chris Mancl, age 49, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. He was born in Appleton on March 24, 1960, the son of the late Robert Mancl and his surviving mother, Donna (Douglas) Mancl. Bill graduated from Appleton East High School in 1978. He graduated from Fox Valley Technical College in 1980, the Milwaukee School of Engineering with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1986 and his Master's Degree in Engineering in 1994. On September 18, 1982, he married his former wife, Mary Sue (Cowan) Mancl at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. As a lifetime member, Bill was involved as a Eucharistic Minister and Catechist. Bill also loved to play the guitar and write music. He enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, golfing and going to his cabin in Alvin, Wisconsin. Bill was employed at Curwood in New London as an Electronic Technician from 1980 to 1983; Pyro-Matic in Appleton as an Electrical Service Engineer from 1983 to 1984 and at Valmet/ Metso in Appleton as a Senior Electrical Project Engineer from 1988 to 2008. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, faith in God, generosity and love for his family and friends.

Bill is lovingly survived by his daughter, Kristine (Matt) Peterson of Menasha; sons: John Mancl of Stevens Point, Michael Mancl of Freedom; granddaughter, Aralyn Peterson; sisters: Anne (Barry) Poole, Janet (T.J.) Radovich, Mary Mancl, Kate (Mike) Taylor; brothers: Bob (April) Mancl, Tom Mancl, Dave (Anne) Mancl. Bill is further survived by sisters-in-law: Carrie (Chris) Paine, Kelly (Mark) Phillips, Lynne (Jay) Heinzelman, brother-in-law, Gary (Jessica) Cowan, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, other relatives and good friends. Bill is preceded in death by his son, Mark Mancl; grandparents, Elzo (Dorothy) Douglas and August (Frances) Mancl and father-in-law, James Cowan.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton, with Fr. Karuhn and Fr. John Doerfler officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel, 3212 S. Oneida Street, Menasha, on Sunday, July 5, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bill's name.
