Age 54, formerly of Appleton passed on to eternal life on Friday, February 2, 2001 with his special friend Deb Bernhard at his side. He was born on November 13, 1946 in Oshkosh the son of Carleton and Rita (Santo) Grishaber. He graduated from Appleton West High School in 1965. He played the trumpet in the Americanos Drum and Bugle Corps during his early life. He enlisted in the United States Navy after High School and served his country during the Viet Nam War on the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal and was involved in the terrible fire and explosion that occurred on that ship. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1969. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a BSEE in 1974. Bill got his first job with the Department of Defense in Oxnard, CA; he traveled the world extensively working on guided missile launching simulators. He then transferred to the Indian Head Naval Air Station in Maryland where he earned much respect in the field of designing naval ship weapons. In 1980 he moved back to the Midwest and worked for the Defense Plant Representative Office, and the FMC office in Minneapolis. Bill will always be remembered as a dedicated employee, loyal friend, and showed great sensitivity and compassion to the people he loved.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter Samantha (Jason) Dinville; his son Adam Grishaber and his fiancé Niki, and his grandson Jesse Grishaber all of Minnesota; his mother Rita Grishaber, and his sister Carla Grishaber both of Appleton; his aunt and uncle Eunice and Clyde Klemp of Appleton; his cousins Ginny (Jim) Egge, Frank Schweder, Mary (Joe) Scipioni, Kathy (Tom) Althoetmar all of Minnesota; and his cat companion “Jack”.

Funeral services were held in Minnesota. Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota. A memorial fund has been established and should be made payable to the William Grishaber Memorial Fund and may be sent to:
