Age 85, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2001, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on June 13, 1915, in Kaukauna, the son of the late John and Dora (Verhasslt) Green. Bill married the former Loraine Meulemans; she preceded him in death in 1998. Bill owned and operated his own farm until 1977. Besides farming, he enjoyed playing cards, fishing and gardening. He also worked for the Colonial House until 1993. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. He is survived by his two sons, Roger (Karen) of Little Chute, Norman (Sandy) of Freedom; a daughter, Charlotte (Patrick) Schommer of Little Chute; ten grandchildren, Jeff (Sarah), Rick (Pam), Jay (Jane) Green, Missy (Mark) Leurquin, Scott Green, Michael and Chris McNeley, Michael (Kathy), Mark (Jennifer) and David Schommer; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert of Kaukauna; John (Germaine) of Freedom; five sisters, Florence Schmidt of Hollandtown; Rosella Kortz of Little Chute; Frances (Harry) Moudry of New London; Esther (James) Van Vreede of Kaukauna; Verna Berken of Little Chute; Eleanor (Bernard) Bowers of Wrightstown; and two sisters-in-law, Harriet Green of Freedom and Elaine Green of DePere. Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Norbert and Vince Green, a sister, Charlotte Green and four brothers-in-law, Leo Schmidt, Leo Weiland, Orin Kortz and Jerry Berken. The funeral liturgy will be at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2001, at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom, the Rev. Dennis Ryan Officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of mass. Memorials directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation would be appreciated. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Brian Scott, especially the nurses and staff on Poppy Path and to all who knew and loved their dad from St. Paul Home.
