Went home to his heavenly Father on June 16, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. He was born on December 4, 1950 in Merrill, Wisconsin to Michael J. and Alice A. (Hulke) Nielsen, Appleton. On September 11, 1981, in Escanaba, Michigan he was united in marriage to Christine C. Kupfer, and they enjoyed over 25 years together. Wes was a Union iron worker for Local 8 for the last 35 years, recently owning his own company, Nielsen Erecting, Inc. He will always be remembered for his love to his family.

Wes will be sadly missed by his children: son, Raymond P. (Darcy) Nielsen and their daughter, Haley R. Nielsen, Appleton; daughter, Nicole N. (Robert) Weber, Hales Corners; son, Jay R. Nielsen (Fawn Zielke), Appleton; son, Simon P. Nielsen, Appleton. Wes is further survived by his mother, Alice A. Nielsen, Appleton; brothers: John M. (Susan) Nielsen, Alliance, OH; Harlan J. (Marilyn) Nielsen, Appleton; Jim Nielsen, Appleton; Steve Rusch, Minnetonka, MN; sisters: Loretta K. Hacker, Appleton, Lorna V. Nielsen, Appleton, Mary J. (Dave) Yates, Appleton, and Gloria A. Haas, Eden Prairie, MN; father-in-law, Richard Kupfer, Appleton.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael J. Nielsen, sister, Linda M. Rusch, Minnetonka, MN, mother-in-law, Irene B. Kupfer, Appleton.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Dwight Douville officiating. Friends will be received Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service, also at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. A memorial fund is being established.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital for their care and concern; it meant a great deal to Wes’ entire family and friends.
