Vivian Mackin Barnhart

Vivian Barnhart of Appleton passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Vivian had reached the age of 102. She was born in Sullivan, Wisconsin on May 7, 1906, daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Mattern) Peterson. For many years, Vivian worked as a clerk at Barrett's in Appleton and was a lifetime member of the Harvey Pierre Post #2778 V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed puzzles of all kinds, dancing, taking leisurely rides in the car, and baking cookies for her grandchildren and their families.

She is survived by two children: Dolores A. Christianson of Appleton and Willard (Carol) Mackin of Appleton; seven grandchildren: Mary (Michael) Voster, Terri (Jeff) Christianson – Plato, Ann (Joe) Leeman, John Christianson, Gerry (Lori) Christianson, Michele (John) Berggren, and David Mackin; eleven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and her many friends at Randall Court. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Willard (Gertrude) Peterson and John (Mary Alyce) Peterson, a sister Gertrude Cochrane, a son-in-law Harold E. Christianson, a grandson Steve Mackin, and infant granddaughter Lynn Anne, and an infant great-granddaughter Jill Rae.

A funeral service for Vivian will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 23, 2008 at the funeral home chapel with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM until the time of the service. There will be a V.F.W. Auxiliary visitation at 6:45 PM Friday at the funeral home.
