Virginia Vice Klemp Braun

July 14, 1921 — November 30, 2006

Virginia Irene Braun was born to eternal life, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at the age of 85. She was born July 14, 1921 in Galesburg, Illinois, daughter of the late Earl Vice and Irene (Harbison) Vice Klemp. As a young woman, Virginia changed her maiden name from Vice to Klemp. She worked at many jobs during her life, including a toy factory, Quaker Dairy, and finally as a meter maid for the city of Appleton. A job related injuring forced her early retirement. In her adult life, Virginia and Lloyd lived in Appleton where they raised their children. Following their retirement, the couple resided at Pineland Park in Wild Rose, Kaukauna, and finally in Little Chute. Virginia enjoyed gardening, camping, knitting, playing cards, and feeding the many birds that came to her outside feeder. She loved to bake, and will always be remembered for her delicious apple dumplings. On September 13, 2002, her loving husband Lloyd passed away. All who knew her know how much she enjoyed watching Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include her children: James (Betty) Braun of Neenah; Jacque (Butch) Henke of Oshkosh; Becky Braun of Appleton; and Jane (Greg) Holcomb of Greenville; her grandchildren: Sandra (Jim) Starr, Patrick Baker, Scott Baker, Tracey (Woody) Hooyman, Shelby Hartzheim, Travis (Cristy) Hartzheim, BreAnn Holcomb, and Cody Holcomb; her great-grandchildren: Brad Starr, Phillip Starr, Holly Baker, Trevor Hartzheim, Jordan Hartzheim, Brett Hartzheim, Cadence Hartzheim, and Austin Nordheim. Virginia is further survived by her sisters: Doris (Sam) Lichtenstein of Long Beach, California; Ethel (Tom) Martin of Combined Locks; Esther (Herb) Lichtenberg of Milwaukee; Edith (Wayne) Tietz of New London; her brothers: Jack (Shirley) McDowell of Canton, Illinois; James Vice of Everett, Washington; a brother-in-law: Wally (Caroline) Braun of Appleton; a sister-in-law: Diana Klemp of Appleton; former sons-in-law: Mel Baker, Art Hartzheim, and Jeff Schanke; her very dear friends: Hazel Ognie, Dave and Neva Gendron, Roy Deering, and everyone who lives at Dutch Harbor Estates in Little Chute. She was preceded in death by her father Earl (Eva) Vice, her mother Irene (Arthur) Klemp, brothers David Klemp, Irvin (Lee) Vice, and Arthur (Mildred) Klemp; her father and mother-in-law: John (Mamie) Braun; a brother-in-law: Carl (Virginia) Braun; a nephew: Ron Braun; a niece: Bonnie Surprise Braun; and very dear friends Roy (Molly) Krause and their son Bruce, and Joyce Deering.
