Age 59, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 15, 2008 at her home. Shirley Ann was born on February 29, 1948 in Appleton to the late Emmett and Marie (McHugh) Arnold. After her first husband, Vernon Birkholz preceded her in death she was united in marriage to Don Schiessl on June 20, 1980 and they have shared 27 wonderful years together. Shirley Ann enjoyed Bingo, playing cards, cooking, camping, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Don; her children: Bryon (Dana) Schiessl, Hilbert, Rachel (Mark) Porter, Appleton; grandchildren: Taylor, Zachary, and Kaylee Schiessl, Raven Brown, Cheyenne Heinrich, Brittney Schiessl, Tyler and Brandon Porter; brother Roger (Patty) Arnold, Winneconne; brother-in-law Larry Bell, Appleton; sister-in-law: Sue (Del) Arnold-LaMarshe, Appleton; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her first husband, Vernon William Birkholz, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Birkholz; a sister, Eunice Bell; and a brother Wayne Arnold.

Funeral services for Shirley Ann will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 5:30 P.M. at the Wichmann Funeral Home (537 North Superior Street) with Rev. Paul T. Schuler officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:30 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park on Friday, January 18 at 1:00 P.M.
