Age 95, entered his Eternal Home on Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at Rennes Health Center, Appleton, with his family at his side. Sam was born on October 18, 1907, in Shiocton to the late Phillip C. and Wilda I. (Thede) Weller. He grew up in Brinkley, Arkansas, where he helped build the family house and farm. After moving back to Wisconsin in 1928, he worked as an auto and farm equipment mechanic. He was a part owner of the Valley Motors Garage, Little Chute and for many years operated Tesch Manufacturing saw filing business. He was one of the three founders of Green Bay Patterns, Inc. and served as president from 1967 until his retirement in 1977. On October 15, 1936, Sam married Nellie Hermus; she preceded him in death in 1985. He was a faithful and longtime member of St. Therese Parish and a member of the Christian Men’s Society. Sam loved to fish and enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Squirrel Lake, near Minoqua. He was famous for his buttermilk pancakes! Sam loved to travel with his family. He had a great sense of direction and memory and was the designated scout on many of his cross country excursions. Survivors include his children, Robert Weller, Kaukauna; Ralph Weller, Houston, Texas; Carol (Tom) Resch, Appleton; Michael (Laura) Weller, Green Bay; and Rosemary (John) Zdrazil, Hortonville; his grandchildren, David Weller, Houston; Angie (Pete) Jopke, Mazomanie, Wisconsin; Scott (Beth) Resch, Appleton; Jennifer (Chad) Meyer, Hortonville; Tim Zdrazil, Appleton and Dan Zdrazil, Hortonville; his six great grandchildren, Jordon and Jessica Jopke; Mitchell and Jackson Resch; and Kyle and Makayla Meyer; his sisters and brothers, Mary Tromblay, West Bend, Wisconsin; John Weller, King, Wisconsin; Frances Damsheuser, Appleton; Wilda McFadden, Ft. Worth, Texas; LeRoy (Phyllis) Weller, Milwaukee; and Ramona Vaughan, Norfolk, Virginia; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Edward Weller, his sister Margaret Nigl, and his brothers Chauncey, Phillip and Daniel Weller. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2002, at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, Morrison Street at Wisconsin Avenue, Appleton, with Fr. Robert Hoffman officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday directly at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. A memorial has been established in Sanford’s name. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Rennes Health Center for their loving care.
