ARBOUR, ROSALIND GROST

Rosalind Grost Arbour, formerly of Ann Arbor, Michigan, age 103, died Wednesday, November 16, at St. Joseph Residence in New London, Wisconsin. Born in Lansing, Michigan, on April 30, 1902, the daughter of Joseph J. Grost and Bertha (Rempsa) Grost, she attended schools there and in Adrian, Michigan. Rosalind was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, whom she married in January 1927, and who died in December 1967. She worked for W. C. Durant Motors in Lansing for 12 years, the last five as assistant to the comptroller. Rosalind went with her husband to Jackson for a few years, then on to Ann Arbor in 1936. She remained there for fifty years. While in Ann Arbor, she worked for seven years for the University of Michigan as assistant to the Manager of Drama Season in the latter fifties. She next worked as principal clerk in grants in the Pharmacology Division of the University Medical School for over 13 years, retiring in 1970. She spent the early part of her retirement in New York state near the Adirondack Mountains. Returning to Ann Arbor in 1973, she volunteered with the American Red Cross on Switchboard and other office work and also with RSVP and with St. Francis Assisi Church where ever they needed her. Rosalind went to the heartland of Wisconsin in 1984 to be near a beloved nephew, Robert Harper, and near family in Appleton in her last years. Rosalind was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers and her father who died when she was three months old. She is survived by nine nephews and nieces and their families: Robert Harper, Appleton, Wisconsin; Jack and Bill Grost, Lansing, Michigan; Helen Whited, Bonifay, Florida; Tom Grost, Lansing, Michigan; Max Grost, Bonita Springs, Florida; Jeane Baumgartner, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Marie Bower, Bath, Michigan; Dr. James Grost, Traverse City; Michigan; and a grand nephew who was always close to her, Dr. John Grost, El Paso, Texas, and his sister, Margaret Grost. She loved theater, concerts, opera, lectures, golf, bridge and LIFE. There will be no funeral, viewing or service. Cremation will take place at her request. Burial will be next to her husband in St. Joseph Cemetery, Willow Street, Lansing, Michigan
