Formerly of Arvada, Colorado, age 67, passed away on Monday morning, November 24, 2008 at his home. He was born on September 26, 1941 in Kansas, son of the late Gilbert and Jessie (Hoskinson) Wayland. On September 29, 1962 he married Elizabeth Alcamo at Shrine of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Arvada, Colorado, and the couple just recently celebrated 46 wonderful years. Roger was employed for 37 years by the Coors Brewing Company in Golden, Colorado, retiring in 2002. In 2004, Roger and his wife moved to Appleton to be closer to one son and his family. He was a member of the Elks Club in Arvada, prior to moving to Appleton. In addition to time spent with his granddaughters, Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching movies with his family.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Liz”; his sons: Kevin (Becky), Telluride, CO, Jack (Sara), Appleton, WI, Scott (Alisa), Seymore, CT; granddaughters: Jessie and Keelie, Emily and Erin; sisters: Jeanine (Bob) Baker, Kingman, KS, Darlene (Kirkland), Lancaster, CA; as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother Sam.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wichmann Funeral Home (537 North Superior Street) with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roger's name are appreciated to the American Cancer Society for Colon Cancer Research.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Theda Care at Home Hospice, especially Mary Littiebrant, and Jordan Kuczwara, and Dr. Karen Adler-Fischer and her nurse, Jennifer, for all of their love, care, and support.
