Robert Mitchell

Age 85, passed away on Friday evening, September 5, 2003 at his home after an extended illness. He was born on February 16, 1918 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Forest and Madeline (Brill). On February 27, 1943 he married Harriet Kuhn in Kaukauna. She passed away on September 14, 1987. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Theater. He returned to Kaukauna and took over operation of his father’s tavern formerly known as Speedy’s in Kaukauna. After his retirement he was a well known bartender at the Starlite Club until he was 80 years old. Speedy was an avid Packer fan, and was known to love a good game of cribbage. In past years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing at his cottage at Roberts Lake.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his children: Janice Ellis of Houston, Texas, Donald (Donna) Mitchell of Appleton, and Alan (Cheryl) Mitchell of Kaukauna; his grandchildren Todd and Terry Mitchell both of Appleton, Tyler Mitchell of Thornton, Colorado, and Amy Ellis of Houston, Texas; his brother Gary (Helen) Mitchell of Kaukauna. He was preceded in death by his wife Harriet, his brother Melvin (Edna) Mitchell, and his sister Jean (Frank) Theunis.
A funeral service for Robert will be conducted on Monday, September 8, 2003 at 11:00 AM at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 GRIGNON STREET in Kaukauna. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, Friends may call on Monday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
