Richard ''Dick'' Siebers

January 10, 1931 — November 26, 2002

Age 71, died November 26, 2002 at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 10, 1931, in Kaukauna, son of the late Albert and Mary (Verhagen) Siebers. He was a graduate of the Kaukauna High School. On October 29, 1949, he was united in marriage to Patricia Martzahl at Holy Cross Catholic Church by Rev. Andrew Quella. Dick was employed by Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company for some forty-two years, working in many different departments. He knew everyone in the mill! He also tended bar part-time for seventeen years. Dick was a member of Holy Cross Church, where he sang in the Queen of Peace Choir. Dick was also a fifty-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He loved playing center and watching football, reading, hunting, card playing, gardening, wine-making, music, dancing, re-finishing woodwork, and upholstering. Dick’s favorite pastime was fishing, especially at his cottage on Range Line Lake.

He is survived by his wife: Pat Siebers of Kaukauna; eight children: Dr. Daniel (Julieen) Siebers of Gilroy, California; Dawn (Bill) Ferg of Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin; Pamela (Duane) Brockman of Kaukauna; Perry (Amy) Siebers of Waukesha; Timothy (Barb) Siebers of Kaukauna; Toni (John) Hungerford of Kaukauna; Jack Siebers of Kaukauna; and Jeff Siebers of Kaukauna. Dick is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Isabel Siebers, Melanie (David) Winter, Adam Ferg, Kate Brockman, Emily Brockman and her fiance James Vercauteren, Jacqueline, Nicole, Taylor, and Madelyn Siebers, Wesley Siebers, Hollie (John) Hammen, Heather Nabbefeld, Tyler, Tara, Cody, and Jacob Hungerford, Alex and Rachael Siebers; four great-grandchildren: Hunter and Bianca Hammen and Olivia and Sophia Winter; a sister: Gloria DeBruin of Kaukauna; two sisters-in-law: Zada Siebers of Kimberly and Mary Lappen of Kaukauna; two brothers-in-law: Bob Martzahl of Kaukauna and Bill Martzahl of Appleton. Dick is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jim Siebers, a sister Evelyn Siebers, his father and mother-in-law Walter (Kate Dolan) Martzahl, two brothers-in-law: Fritz DeBruin, Don Lappen; three sisters-in-law: Lillian (Don) Hopfensperger, Dorothy Martzahl, and Ceil Martzahl; a niece Kathy Lappen, and a nephew Jim Martzahl.

The funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2002 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 – 7 PM and again Saturday at the funeral home from 9 AM until the procession leaves for the church. Visiting hours on Friday will conclude with a parish prayer and scripture service at 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Richard Siebers Endowment Fund for Holy Cross School.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Gloria DeBruin and Bruce Siebers for their weekly visits, as well as to Kathy from ThedaCare at Home.

We are all God’s children from the morning of our birth. He lets us live, and laugh and love, and have our day on earth. He guards us through the afternoon, ‘til sunset rays are cast. Then one by one, with gentle words, He calls us home at last.
