SHEVELAND, PER

Per Sheveland, 82, formerly of Superior, Wisconsin, passed away after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease on Saturday, July 1, 2006. During his most recent months he was lovingly cared for by the staff at Crystal River Nursing and Rehab Center, Waupaca, Wisconsin. Per was born in Bjerkreim, Norway, on February 22, 1924, to the late Sven and Therese (Ivesdal) Skjaeveland. His family moved to Duluth, Minnesota, in 1929 until their return to Norway in 1937. He finished school and became a carpenter. Per returned to the U.S. in 1949. He married Kathryne Wick in 1955 and lived in Superior, Wisconsin, where he worked for Lakehead Construction until his retirement in 1986. Per left Superior after 46 years and moved to Weyauwega, Wisconsin, to be cared for by his daughter, Karen. He and his wife had been very active members of the Sons of Norway in Duluth, where they had many dear friends. Per was always making improvements to his home and his passion hobby was his cabin on Lake Dowling. He also enjoyed socializing and playing cards, especially “31.” Per was a very kind-hearted, generous man. He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Ed) Rohloff, Weyauwega, Wisconsin; his son, Steve (Dawn) Sheveland, Lebanon Jct., Kentucky; his six grandchildren, Amy (Shane) Craft, Saukville, Wisconsin; Adam Rohloff, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Jordan and Sierra Sheveland, Lebanon Jct., Kentucky, and Paul and Luke Rohloff, Weyauwega; his two brothers, Thelmer, Duluth, Minnesota, and Gunleiv, Vikesa, Norway; his sister, Jorunn Nordle, Vikesa, Norway; his bother-in-law and sister-in-law, Warren and Lucille Morgan, Gilbert, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. A brother, Glenn, his wife, and his parents preceded him in death. A private memorial service will be held at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Weyauwega, Wisconsin. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Superior, Wisconsin.
