Nancy Kay Welch

February 18, 1957 — July 18, 2011

Nancy Welch's name was written down in Jehovah's book of remembrance on Monday, July 18, 2011. She fell asleep at home surrounded by the love of her family following a valiant and courageous 8-year battle with ovarian cancer. Her strong conviction and faith in Jehovah God's promise of resurrection to life on earth in perfect health is what helped her endure.
Nancy was born Nancy Kay Joas in Neenah, WI on February 18, 1957 to Lionel and Dolores Joas. On August 7th 1976, she and Ronald (Toby) Lee Welch became one and started their journey together with their family quickly growing to include five daughters. Toby and Nancy treasured 35 years of marriage together. Her life revolved around her family and friends, especially her 11 grandchildren.
She is best known for her many talents such as designing and making jewelry, decorating, sewing, crocheting, and most of all painting or photographing Jehovah's beautiful creations, just to name a few. Nancy enjoyed immensely putting together puzzles, playing various card games or board games, doing Sudoku puzzles…any type of activity that challenged the mind. Her favorite, well-known by many, was her passion for Scrabble and her ability to beat anyone who had the courage to challenge her.
As a couple, Toby and Nancy cherished many trips to their retreat in Florida. Nancy's favorite place to be was near the ocean. Together they strolled many miles along the beaches searching for the most unique seashells. Her dream was to swim with the dolphins, as this was among her favorite of all of Jehovah's creations. As the two of them traveled, they built long-lasting friendships and memories that will last forever.
Nancy is survived by her husband Ronald (Toby), her daughters Sonja (Hal) Murray, Lacey (Jared) Aniol, Desire'e (Justin) Murray, Candice (Greg) Marcks, & Emily (Richard) Baumgartner. Her grandchildren: Elysia, Olivia Murray; Ezriah, Michayla Hay; Carter, Mason Murray; Owen, Moriya, KateLynn, Miley Marcks; Courtney Baumgartner. Sisters Connie (Stan) Laszewski; Sue (Doug) VanStraten; Father & Mother-in-laws Donald & Darlene Welch; brother & sister-in-laws Ken (Tammy) Welch; best friend Sue Kettlewell, her son Bill (Amanda), daughter Kelly (Kurt) Miller and their family, and many nieces and nephews, particularly Mandy & Heather. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lionel and Dolores Joas, & best friend Larry Kettlewell.
Visitation is set for Saturday July 23rd, 2011 from 1-4 with the service beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, N3285 County Road D, New London, WI 54961.
