Mary Katherine Dixon

Mary Katherine Dixon, age 83, was called into the Lord's loving arms on October 5, 2009.

Mary K. was born November 17, 1925, in Yorktown, IA, to Otto & Florence Huseman. She was married to the love of her life John S. Dixon on February 11, 1968.

She was preceded in death by her husband John. Also preceding her in death were both parents, a sister Louise Gilbert and brothers Wayne (Ora) and Kenneth Huseman—all of Shenandoah, IA.

Mary K. is survived by her brother Eugene (Blythe) Huseman of Menasha, WI; four step-children: a daughter, Debbie Williams of Iowa City, IA, and sons Mark (Amy) of Tulsa, OK, Jeffrey of Readfield, IA, Gary of San Diego, CA; and six step-grandchildren. She is also survived by two special nieces, Cynthia Lynn of Fort Wayne, IN, and Sheila (Rick) Erck of Greenville, WI, among other relatives and friends.

Mary was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Shenandoah, Audubon, Ames, Iowa City, and Des Moines, IA, where she retired.

Her selfless, graceful, elegant manner touched everyone she met. Mary always made you feel you were the most important and special person. Mary loved dogs (especially Duchess and Lily) and golf. Her kind and generous spirit will always be remembered.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Polsey Cemetery, Yorktown, IA.

The family would like to give special thanks to Touchmark Assisted Living Center staff and its wonderful caregivers; Rev. Paul L. Shackel for his many visits and prayers; and, also the congregation and staff of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Greenville, WI. Special thanks and appreciation to Debbie, Chris, Sister Ruth, and the staff of Heartland Hospice for all their support and giving to the family during these emotional times.
