Mary Foster Frawley Martin

MARTIN, MARY FOSTER FRAWLEY

Mary Foster Frawley Martin of Palm City, Florida passed away on December 19, 2009. Mary Martin was born December 22, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA to Edward X. and Vera (Keck) Foster.

Mary attended St. Mary's at Notre Dame and graduated from Carlow University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She also received a Masters degree in Education at the University of Wisconsin. Mary married Thomas “Tuck” Frawley on August 21, 1949 and they shared forty two years of wedded life. Tuck passed away in 1991. After Tuck's death, Mary married Thomas Martin on June 5, 1993.

Mary taught biology, chemistry and home economics at various high schools throughout the Fox Valley and home economics at the Fox Valley Technical Institute. Mary worked for Xerox selling educational material and the University of Chicago in social family research. Mary was a past president of the local American Cancer Society for two years, a member of Kings Daughters, and was a Cub Scout, Girl Scout, and Brownie leader. She owned and operated a fine dining catering business, and volunteered in the Stuart, Florida school district as a reading specialist.

Mary had a wonderful zest for life and an incredible magnetic personality. She loved her friends and she was gracious and kind to anyone who happened to come into her social sphere and there were many. She will be missed by everyone she has ever touched.
Mary is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Thomas Martin and her three children, Thomas (Jane) Frawley, Kathryn (Cheryl Turgeon) Frawley, and William (Marylou) Frawley, as well as her four grandchildren; Erin, Sean, Patrick, and Caitlin. Mary will also be remembered by Thomas Martin's children; Sue (Nick) Wellenstein, Andrew (Dawn) Martin, Timothy (Victoria) Martin, Ted (Janice) Martin, Betsy (David) Baumann, and Maryellen Martin and grandchildren Sherri, Drew, Kate, Ross, Timia, Angie. Fondly remembering Mary also are her sister-in-law Janny Frawley, her brother-in-law Patrick Frawley, many nieces and nephews as well as other extended family members and friends.

The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine Street, Appleton, Wisconsin. Fr. Dennis Ryan will be officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin or the American Heart Association are appreciated.

Mary would like to express her gratitude to the Doctors, nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Cherry Meadows.
