COOPER, MABEL MARIE HEMAUER

Mabel Marie Hemauer Cooper, 93, died on Monday, March 8, 2010 at home and surrounded by her family. She was born on May 15, 1916 in Stockbridge, the daughter of the late John and Rose Hemauer. Mabel married John P. Cooper on November 26, 1938. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1980.

Mabel attended cosmetology school in Milwaukee and worked as a beautician for several years. With her husband she operated a family restaurant. Mabel also worked as a department manager and receiving clerk for Sears & Roebuck. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church for 55 years. Her family and friends will remember her the way she wanted to be remembered – with laughter and gratitude for her selflessness, keen sense of humor and generous hugs.

Mabel is survived by her three daughters: Geraldine Cooper, Appleton; Grace (Tony) Lauer, Stephensville and Ruth (Dennis) Olson, Kaukauna; two daughters-in-law: Nancy (Lloyd) Romenesko, Kaukauna and Jane (James) Sheperd, Shiocton; 23 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She is further survived by two sisters: Doris (Sylvester) Zahringer, Stockbridge and Rose (Robert) Parsons, Stockbridge; two brothers: Clarence (Betty) Hemauer, Hilbert and John (Jean) Hemauer, New Holstein; brother-in-law: William Goeser, Stockbridge. Mabel is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Leo (Eileen), Al (Nita), Robert (Lorena), Jerome (Dorothy), Francis (Ellen, Beverly), James, Joseph and Walter Hemauer; sisters: Lucille (Gib) Schoen and Elaine Goeser; two sons: Gerald John and John James Cooper.

The funeral liturgy for Mabel will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 12, 2010 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State Street, Appleton. Father Larry Abler will be officiating. Inurnment will take place in the spring at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Mary Catholic Church.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Affinity Visiting Nurses, Hospice Services and Affinity Family Medicine for their compassionate care; the loyal caregivers who were so faithful in assisting us with our mother's care over the last 14 years; and the staff of Wichmann Funeral Home for their support.
