Lola Jane Jahnke

February 23, 1926 — December 9, 2009

Lola Jane Jahnke, on angel's wings went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 after a brief illness. She once wrote that “death can overtake us at any moment, that's true and we should believe that. So it's a good thing to know your life is in order, should it come.” Those who called her Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, sister, aunt, and friend knew her life to be in order. With a faith larger than life itself, her legacy teaches us to “be good and love one another.” She was first and foremost a mother, but played many roles throughout her life in the lives of others as a care-provider, seamstress, and volunteer with her church family. Family and friends were everything to Lola and she embraced life with great joy. Her personal and spiritual writings will be treasured for many years to come. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed. Born on February 23, 1926 to Edward and Linda (Plamann) Ziegler in the town of Center, the third oldest of ten, Lola grew to appreciate the rewards of family. Surviving are June Maass (Wallace)-Seymour; Phillip (Bev)-Appleton, Don-Appleton; Ken (Lorraine)-Appleton; and Fred-Shawano. Besides her parents, Lola was preceded in death by brothers Robert & LeRoy and sisters Carol & Janet.
Lola married Floyd J Jahnke on January 20, 1946. She was the mother of eleven children and “delighted” in nurturing all her family right up to the time of her death. She modeled love of family and life in Christ to each of them. Lola is survived by ten children/spouses, 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her children are: Bruce (Marge)- Appleton; Carla Brawner -Green Bay; Earl ( Mary) -Cadott; Kristine Vanden Heuvel (Jeff )- Wausau; Diane Dietzler (Mark )- Kimberly; Randall -Sherwood, Barbara Merckx (Kevin)- Kimberly, Ida Johnston (Mark)-Los Altos Hills, CA; Charles(Jennifer)- Kimberly; and Ted-Kimberly. The youngest, Phillip preceded her in death –what a glorious reunion!
