Broehm, Letha Mae

Letha Broehm, age 81, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, June 21st, 2009, at Cherry Meadows Hospice after a short illness and entered the glory of eternal life. Even in the face of increasing illness, she focused on the joy ahead, knowing that in Christ – “the best was yet to come”. Letha was born on March 2, 1928 in the Town of Greenville, the daughter of the late Erwin & Edna (Schroeder) Palmbach. She was born a second time by the washing of water & the Word of God in Holy Baptism on March 25, 1928 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Greenville. She was instructed and confirmed in her faith in Jesus on September 7, 1941. She attended the Pleasant Corners school in Greenville and Wilson Jr. High and Appleton West High School, in Appleton, graduating in the Class of 1946. She was initially employed at Aid Association for Lutherans as a bookkeeper. Letha was united in marriage to Clifford Broehm on August 5, 1950 and would have celebrated their 59th anniversary this year. Their marriage was blessed with three children. In 1954 Letha and Clifford began a family business in Appleton, Accurate Alignment & Frame Service, in which they remained active until retirement. Letha was an avid bowler and golfer. She enjoyed her grandchildren and new great-grandson as well as her many neighbors and friends, especially the Card Club that has met every month since 1950. She was actively involved in her church and always willing to lend a hand to such organizations as the Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, Sunday School and choir. Survivors include her husband, Clifford; her three children, Dennis (Barbara) Broehm of Greenville; Sharon (Bill) Huss of Greenville; Mark (Jodi) Broehm of Appleton; five grandchildren, Jamie (Sarah) Broehm of Green Bay, Jenny (Adam) Bruss of Greenville, Brian Huss of Greenville, Jenna & Caitlin Broehm of Appleton; one great-grandson, Parker Ryan Broehm of Green Bay; one sister, Arlene (Gilbert) Henke of Appleton; one brother, Gerald (Donna) Palmbach of Appleton; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hemauer of Chilton, Gen (Norman) Kiefer of Sherwood, Marion (Chuck) Westenberger of Florence, Mary Ann Broehm of Whitefish Bay. She was preceeded in death by her parents and parents-in-law; one brother, Earl; two brothers-in-law, Herman Hermauer & Bob Broehm; and one grandson, Ryan Broehm. Funeral services will held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, Appleton, with Rev. Joel Zank officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again directly at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. It was Letha's wish that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church or Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
