Leonard "Bookie" Vanden Wyngaard

Leonard “Bookie” J. Vanden Wyngaard, age 83, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, August 30. 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. Bookie was born on November 5, 1930, son of the late Joseph and Rose Vanden Wyngaard. On March 31, 1951, Bookie married Rita Kern in a ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. Bookie retired from Thilmany's as a beater engineer after over 40 years of employment. Bookie enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as playing sheeps head and bingo. He was an avid sports fan, who loved cheering on all sports teams. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son: Lee (Linda) Wyngaard; daughter-in-law: Deborah (fiancé Douglas Tuschl) Wyngaard; grandchildren: Lisa (Brett) Jondle, Timothy (Samantha) Wyngaard and Thomas Wyngaard; Jesse (Jenny) Wyngaard and Jenny (William) Matney; great grandchildren: Caleb and Brynn Jondle; Hannah, Allison, Brianna and Lauren Wyngaard; Jayden, Charles and Dylan Matney. He is further survived by his sisters: Rosemary (Court) Pitsch and Lillian (Donald) Biese; his brother Maureanus (Lola) Vanden Wyngaard; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Rita; his son: Jay Wyngaard; his daughter: Kim Vanden Wyngaard; sisters: Violet, Francis, Cecila, and Betty; and brothers: Albert, Tony, Joe and Raymond.

The funeral liturgy for Bookie will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – KIMBERLY, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue. Fr. Bob Kollath will be officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the JANSEN FARGO FUNERAL HOME, 204 E. Kimberly Ave, and again on Thursday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmanfargo.com.

The family would like to thank the staff at Our House Assisted Living for all their love and care, making Bookie feel like a king. They would also like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Hospital CCU department.
