Laura Kohl, 63, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Grand Horizons. Laura was born on April 28, 1947 to Eugene and Helen (Hupf) French and was a long time Appleton resident. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, jigsaw puzzles, fishing, the Green Bay Packers, her sister's chili, and traveling with family and friends. She had a daycare for many years and babysat many children and was a care giver for her disabled uncle Jimmy. Laura was a loving and caring person whose family and friends were most important to her and she cherished all the special time she spent with them.

Laura is survived by two children; Justine (Anthony) Boyd, Kaukauna, Mel (Lisa) Kohl Jr., Appleton, five grandchildren; Curtis, Alyssa and Zach, Andrew, Casey, one great-grandchild Cole. She is also survived by her sister Dawn (George) Arndt, 2 brothers; Chad (Terri) French and Norm French, a niece Tessa and a nephew Joe, an aunt, Jacqueline Ratliff, special friends, Mary Kay, Jane, Rosie, Joyce, Debbie, Cindy, Bonnie and Vicki, and many other special relatives and many friends.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, her uncle William, and her aunts; Evelyn, Betty and Barbara.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK STAR OF HOPE CHAPEL (3131 N. Richmond St.) From 10:00 AM until the committal service at 11:00 AM at Highland Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Colony Oaks and Grand Horizons for all the care and compassion they have shown Laura and her family.
