Larry Milhaupt died suddenly on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at the age of 77. Larry was born in Appleton on May 14, 1929, son of the late Leo P. and Florence (Bootz) Milhaupt. From June of 1947 until December of 1948, Larry served his country as a member of the United States Army, and on July 21, 1951 married the former Joan Hermsen in Little Chute; she survives. For more than thirty-five years, Larry was employed at American Can Company, retiring in 1992. He loved to play cards with his friends on Monday afternoons and also was a volunteer driver for the local FISH program.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years: Joan Milhaupt of Appleton; seven children: Jim (Lynne) Milhaupt of Combined Locks, Don “Huz” Milhaupt of San Francisco, Connie (John) Meinke of Neenah, Laurie (Steve) Tomasini of Madison, Mary (Linda) Halsey-Milhaupt of Madison, Joe (Rene) Milhaupt of Green Bay, and Larry (Lisa) Milhaupt of Hanover Park, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren: Trevor (Shelley) Milhaupt, Ben (Tiffany) Milhaupt, Maggie Milhaupt, Franny Milhaupt, Chad (Beth) DeLeeuw, Lori (Don) Lavalle, Dion Tomasini, Gillian Tomasini, Malcolm Halsey-Milhaupt, Julian Halsey-Milhaupt, Adam Milhaupt, Sam Milhaupt, Luke Milhaupt, Michael Colalucca, Elizabeth Colalucca, and Nick Milhaupt; four great-grandchildren: Mikaela Milhaupt, Jameson Milhaupt, Calla DeLeeuw, and Carter Lavalle; and two sisters: Jean (Alan) Mory of Appleton and Peg De Steffen of Woodstock, Illinois. He is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Mary Milhaupt, a son Chuck Milhaupt in 1994, his mother and father-in-law John and Delia Hermsen, a sister Winifred Hofkens, and brothers Leo, Kenneth, Robert, Richard, and Donald.

The funeral liturgy for Larry will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday July 31, 2006 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton with Fr. Larry Abler, OFM, Cap. officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again Monday at the church after 9:30 AM.
