Age 48, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Cherry Meadows Hospice surrounded by his family, following an eight year battle with cancer. Kirby was born on August 11, 1959 in Stevens Point, WI to Stennett and Janice (Julien) Pierce. He was raised in Menomonie, WI, where he graduated from Menomonie High School and received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stout. He married Cindy Dufresne on March 12, 1983 in Somerset, WI. Kirby worked in Retail Management for Foot Locker Corp. in the Chicago, IL area and eventually transferred to Appleton, WI. He then worked in Auto Sales at Meiers Rudolf Lincoln-Mercury. Kirby most recently worked as a Mortgage Loan Officer at All American Mortgage – Fox Cities until he was disabled due to his cancer in 2005. Kirby enjoyed every aspect of sports-oriented activities, especially spending time at the family game farm (Rut Knob) in Fairchild, WI.

Kirby is survived by his wife, Cindy; his daughter Katie and son Grant; his mother Janice Pierce, Menomonie, WI; his brothers: Troy, Menomonie, WI, Eric, Menomonie, WI, and Brady (Lisa) and their children Michael and Charlie, Hudson, WI; his mother-in-law Betty Dufresne, Stillwater, MN; brothers-in-law: David (Karen) Dufresne and their children Alycia (Paul) Jacobson and Lara Dufresne, Stillwater, MN; Daniel (Linda) Dufresne and their children Jon, Krista, and Allison, St. Paul, MN, Craig (Becky) Dufresne and their children Rachel and Sarah, Amery, WI. Kirby will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and three special God-Children. Kirby was preceded in death by his father Stennett B. Pierce; father-in-law Vernon Dufresne; and infant child Nicholas Pierce. He is also preceded by his grandparents George and Lorette Julien and Stennett R. and Virginia Pierce.

Funeral Mass for Kirby will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Pius X Catholic Church (500 West Marquette Street) with Father Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Friends may call on Friday evening, from 4 until 8 P.M. at the Wichmann Funeral Home (537 North Superior Street) and again on Saturday morning from 10:30 A.M. until the time of Mass directly at St. Pius. Kirby will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery, Menomonie, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
