Julius ''Bud'' Vandehy

October 8, 1913 — December 26, 2002

Age 89, formerly of Kimberly, most recently a resident at Franciscan Care Center, passed away very peacefully with his family at his side on December 26, 2002. Bud was born October 8, 1913 in Little Chute, son of the late Martin and Esther (Lang) VanDehy. He married Esther Fjellerad on November 8, 1933 in Antigo, Wisconsin. Together they enjoyed sixty-four years of marriage. Esther preceded him in death on October 29, 1997. Bud enjoyed bowling, fishing, spending time at the cottage with family, and Grandma’s cooking. He also had a great love for music. Bud retired from the Kimberly Mill as a turbine operator on January 1, 1976. He will missed by his family.

Bud is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Bob and Joan Vandehy of Appleton; three grandchildren: Kelly (Kim) Vandehy of Kimberly; Tammy (Mike) Gritton of Kimberly; Jill (Tom) Derr of Sun Prairie; five great-grandchildren: Amanda Vandehy, Jeremy and Jessica Gritton, Ashley and Melissa Derr; a brother: Ken (Betty) VanDehy of Kaukauna; two sisters: Jean Hildebrand of Freedom and Gerri Zierler of Little Chute; a brother-in-law: Jerome (Mary) Seaver of Kimberly; a sister-in-law: Marie VanDehy of Menasha; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Esther, four sisters: Margaret Seaver, Marion Van Handel, Josephine Kamps, and infant sister Jane VanDehy; two brothers: Martin VanDehy, Jr. and Vernon VanDehy; three brothers-in-law: Clarence Kamps, Robert Van Handel, and Verlon Zierler; and a sister-in-law: Harriet VanDehy.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2002 at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Thomas Part of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Appleton officiating. Inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Franciscan Care Center and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The family would like to express our appreciation for the staff in Unit 4 at Franciscan Care Center for the wonderful care given to Bud. He could have been in no better hands; thank you all so very much.
