Age 77, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2001 at Cherry Meadows Hospice. She was born on August 30, 1924 in Appleton the daughter of the late Lester and Alice (Lemke) Powers. She was a lifelong resident of Appleton. Joyce was employed in sales at Geenen Dry Goods and Campbells until she retired. Joyce will always be remembered by all who knew her for being a very kind and generous person who always gave from her heart. She was an avid reader, liked old movies, and enjoyed going out to eat.

Joyce is survived by her sister Loretta LaBell of Appleton, her nephew Michael (Stephanie) Micke and their children Christopher, Jordan, Ian, Benjamin, and Ivy Anne; a brother-in-law Dr. Vincent C. Sarley of Florida; a sister-in-law Esther Powers Knoll; and her dear friend Kay Symeros. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Dr. Millicent H. Sarley, a brother Nathan “Sonny” Powers; an infant sister Mary Ellen, a brother-in-law, a special aunt Margaret “Peg” Lemke; and other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Honoring Joyce’s wishes, the family will have a private memorial service at Wichmann Funeral Home with Deacon William Burke officiating.

The family wishes to express their thanks to John and Pat Schreiter, the Oncology staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, and special care givers at the sub acute unit; and to all of the dedicated staff at Cherry Meadows Hospice. You will all be in our hearts forever.

I did not expect to leave so suddenly, but what the Lord does is well done. I left you all with love in my heart.
