Weyenberg, Josephine
(nee Josephine Wildenberg)

Age 99, died peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2004 surrounded by her loving family at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Josephine was born in Little Chute on April 12, 1904, the daughter of the late Walter and Catherine (Verkuilen) Wildenberg. On November 18, 1925, she married her beloved husband, George Weyenberg, who preceded her in death on March 14, 1972 after 46 years of marriage. For nearly all of their married life, George and Josephine resided on a farm in Kaukauna, where they raised six children. Josephine was a long time and faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, and a member of the Christian Mothers.

Josephine is survived by her children: sons Melvin (Lucille) Weyenberg, Floyd (the late Margaret) Weyenberg, Donald (Barbara) Weyenberg, and Gerald (Kay) Weyenberg, and daughters Pearl (Jerome) Van Eperen and Elaine (the late John) Brown. She is further survived by brothers Owen Wildenberg and Merin (Margaret) Wildenberg, sisters Mildred Langedyke and Virginia Smith, brother-in-law Leslie Woechner, and sisters-in-law Elva Wildenberg, Margaret Wildenberg, Lorena Weyenberg, Loretta Weyenberg, and Anna Weyenberg. She was a cherished Grandma to 38 grandchildren, dear “Grandma Great” to 64 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren, and Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine was preceded in death by her brothers John (Myrtle) Wildenberg, Raymond (Helen) Wildenberg, Martin (Margaret) Wildenberg, Ralph (Katharine) Wildenberg, Clarence Wildenberg, Edward Wildenberg, Arthur Wildenberg, and Peter Wildenberg, sisters Ann (William) Behling and Nelda Woechner, brothers-in-law Sylvester Langedyke, Gerald Smith, Henry Weyenberg, William Weyenberg Sr., John Weyenberg, Joseph (Margaret) Weyenberg, and Theodore Weyenberg, sisters-in-law Joyce Wildenberg, Mary (George DeCoster, George) Meyer, and Minnie (John) Heindel, and 8 precious grandchildren.

Josephine’s family planned to celebrate her 100th Birthday with a party over Easter weekend. Instead, we will celebrate her life and re-birth in Christ on Friday, February 27, 2004 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna. Friends may call at Church beginning at 2:00 PM, and the funeral Mass will be held at 5:00 PM with Fr. Jim Lucas presiding.

Gone But Not Forgotten

We have lost our beloved mother,
She has bid us all adieu.
She has gone to live in Heaven,
And her person is lost to view.
Oh, that dear one, how we loved her!
Oh, how hard to give her up!
But an angel came down for her
And removed her from our flock.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to St. Paul Home, especially the staff on Magnolia Way. Thank you for the care and consideration you showed to Mom over the many years she was with you.
