Age 73, died unexpectedly, Friday evening, January 9, 2004. He was born February 15, 1930, to the late Clarence and Sarah (Franklin) Grow, in Rib Lake, Wisconsin, where he graduated from high school. Joe served with the U. S. Air Force, during the Korean Conflict, where he supervised the refueling of the first flight of planes to fly to Japan. Following his discharge, he worked as a carpenter for various companies including Hoffman and Sauter-Seaborne until he started his own company, Grow Construction Managers, Inc. in 1988. Joe was an avid golfer and bowler and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of one week, Patricia Z. (Zielke) Hastreiter-Grow, Wausau; his children, Debbie and Jim Matteson, Champlin, MN; Dianne and Gary Streufert, Appleton; Mike and Molly Grow, Appleton; Pam Mansfield, Little Chute; ten grandchildren, Sarah (Aaron) Knudsvig, Amy, Alissa and Jenna Matteson, Katie Streufert, Sam and Benjamin Grow, Amanda, Jeremy and Erin Mansfield; his new step-children, Alan and Jessica Hastreiter and their children, Matthew, Elizabeth and Andrew; Lee and Mike Shipway and their children, Patrick and Samantha; Lynn and Matt Vande Sande and their children, Megan and David. He is further survived by a sister Wava Vollmer and two brothers, Cecil (Dorothea) Grow and Byron Grow and a sister-in-law, Maxine Grow. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan J. Grow, June 1, 2001, six brothers, Marvin Grow, Reggie Grow, Rex (Emily) Grow, Norman Grow, Wesley (Eunice) Grow, Ralph (Hazel) Grow, a sister-in-law, Joannie Grow and two brothers-in-law, Duke Vollmer and Ed Johnson. Funeral services for Joseph will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 East Glendale Avenue, with Reverend Daniel Thews officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 pm, Tuesday and on Wednesday at the church from 10:30 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
