Joan Phyllis Duwe, age 74, of Menasha, died Sunday evening, November 4, 2007, after a 9-month battle with cancer. She was born December 10, 1932, in Appleton, daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Parker) Miller. Joan is survived by Willis Duwe, her ex-husband and still dear friend; five loving children, Janna (Dale) Davis, John Duwe, William (Tanya) Duwe, Julie Duwe (Don), James Duwe (Lizzie) and his four children, Curtis, Zachary, Alyssa and Cayden; a brother, Roger (Nancy) Miller; sisters, Pat Winter and Mary (Joe) Niesen; also many nieces, nephews and friends. During her life she worked at Wisconsin Electric Power Company, Appleton City Hall and retired from the Appleton Police Department, very much enjoying her last years. She was a great mom, grandmother, sister and friend. Joan was an avid reader and golfer. Joan also loved watching old movies, playing tennis, biking, thrift shops, swimming, boating, playing cards, games and slots. She loved giving to her loved ones, doing things for them and was especially good at giving advice of every kind. Joan said she had “a good life”. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services for Joan will be held Saturday, November 10, 2007, at 1:00 pm, at the funeral home, with Reverend David Lyle officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 pm, Saturday, until the time of the service.
