Jeremy Miller of Appleton died April 6, 2006 of emphysema, at Cherry Meadows Hospice. He was born on November 21, 1938 in Appleton, Wisconsin. Jerry attended St. Mary's Grade School and St. Mary's High School in Menasha, Wisconsin, Class of 1957. He played sports and loved his classmates. Jerry also attended the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He served in the U.S. Army 25th Division from November, 1961 to August, 1963, stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Jerry's favorite job was at the YMCA of Appleton, where he worked for ten years before leaving for health reasons. He loved the job because of all the wonderful people he met there. Jerry loved all sports, especially NFL football, college football and basketball. Fishing was a passion and he fished every chance he could.
Jerry was the son of the late Thomas P. Miller and Caroline (Brooks) Miller. He is survived by his sister, Nanci Meisle and her husband Bill Meisle of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews: Kathryn Meisle, Bill Meisle and Lori, Jennifer Meisle Savoie and Jim, and Sarah Meisle Winslow; six grandnephews and nieces; very special cousins, Judy and Bob Petersen, and Barbara Fieweger Furman and Bob; and many friends, especially Susan and Rachel Hasse, Brad and Kathy Vivoda, Cliff Cook, and Ken Peterson, James Miller of Tallahasse, Florida, and John Jaros of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Visitation will be held at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, on Sunday, April 9, 2006 from 2 until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. The family would like to thank the Hospice at Cherry Meadows for their professional and loving end-of-life care.
Jerry's final message is: If you quit smoking, congratulations. If you still smoke, stop!
