Janet Salentine

Janet Fay Salentine, age 77, of Appleton, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Friday, May 20, 2016. Janet was born on June 4, 1938, daughter of the late Reuel and Muriel (Brott) Holcomb. In 1956, she graduated from Appleton High School. Janet started her telephone operator career at Wisconsin Bell, later accepting a job at Kimberly-Clark, retiring after more than 25 years of service.

Janet enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead, as well as puzzles, computer games and she loved to read. She was an avid sports fan who loved any sporting event on television. Family was very important to Janet. She always looked forward to the “cousin's lunch” and the annual Flag Day parade where she could catch up with relatives.

Janet will be lovingly missed by her children: Deborah (Craig) Peterson, Robert A. Salentine, Sarah (Lawrence) Juneau, Sheila (John) Palmer, Cynthia (Chad) Kriewaldt, Rebecca (Mark) Vandenboom; grandchildren: Nichole Peterson, Jack Peterson, Robert D. (fiancée Megan) Salentine, Racheal Salentine, Christine (Eric) Minch, Kya Kriewaldt, Jenna Kriewaldt, Lindsey Vandenboom and Allison Vandenboom; great grandchildren: Morgan Minch and Sophia Salentine. She is further survived by her brother: Clifford (Jackie) Holcomb; her twin sister: Janice “A.J.” Tierney; her sister-in-law: Julie Holcomb; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother: Robert Holcomb; her brother-in-law: John “Pat” Tierney; and her former husband: Robert J. Salentine.

The funeral service for Janet will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior St. Appleton. A time of visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Janet's name.
