Jacqueline Ann Hoppe

July 31, 1930 — April 20, 2003

Hoppe, Jacqueline Keller
Appleton

Jackie, who compassionately helped thousands of Fox Valley residents cope
with life transitions, died peacefully with family members at her side on
Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003.

She quietly made a difference and touched the lives of many, both
professionally and as a volunteer. She was a member of the Silver Cross
Circle of the King¬πs Daughters, and worked in the Social Services Department
at St. Elizabeth Hospital for two years. She was a Medical Social Worker at
Theda Clark Medical Center for 20 years, offering tireless and devoted
assistance to patients and their families in times of need. After
retirement, she continued to give compassion and practical help with her
work in Crisis Intervention for the Outagamie County Department of Human
Services. She was also a member of the Theda Clark Auxiliary, and a Meals on
Wheels volunteer.

Jackie was born on July 31, 1930. She graduated from Appleton Senior High
School in 1948, and was further educated at Lawrence College and the
University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was affiliated with the Delta
Gamma sorority. She married Alan Hoppe in 1951 and, except for brief periods
in New York City, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Green Bay, lived all her life in
her hometown of Appleton.

Her children and husband amused her greatly. She left a legacy of
generosity, empathy, service, deep care for others, and laughter. We¬πll miss
her smiles and warmth.

She is survived by her seven children and their spouses: Chris (Carole)
Hoppe, Naperville, Illinois; Catherine (John) Brandt, Appleton; Geoffrey
(Linda) Hoppe, Golden, Colorado; Tracy (Marc) Rosenthal, Evanston, Illinois;
Greg (Janet) Hoppe, Frisco, Texas; Alan (Patti) Hoppe, Darboy; and Meg
(Greg) Linnemanstons, Appleton.

She is also survived by grandchildren Alison and Kristin Hoppe; Sarah and
Sam Sica and Alice Brandt; Gregory and Hannah Lin Bai Hoppe; Arica,
Adreanne, and Ben Hoppe; and Anna and Ross Linnemanstons.

Other immediate survivors include sisters Alice (Robert) Scherzinger,
Barbara (Thomas) Pierce, father-in-law George Wegenke, and countless
friends. Her husband, Alan Hoppe, her mother-in-law Betty Wegenke, and her
parents, Judge Gustave J. and Alice Whedon Keller, preceded her in death.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 South State Street in Appleton with the Rev. Michael O’Rourke officiating. Visitation will be TUESDAY (TONIGHT) at the Wichmann Tri-County Chapel from 6 – 8 PM and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jackie’s name to the charity or organization of your choice.

Farewell my friends, farewell and hail,
I¬πm off to seek the Holy Grail.
I cannot tell you why.
Remember, please, when I am gone,
’twas aspiration led me on.
Tiddly widdly, tootle-lou,
all I want is to stay with you.
But here I go.
Goodbye.

Jackie¬πs family would like to extend their genuine gratitude to the gentle
and compassionate caregivers at Theda Clark Medical Center. They performed
their job flawlessly and with heartfelt care, and Jackie surely appreciated
it.

We love you 87, Mom.
