Age 88, formerly of Milwaukee passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born on May 28, 1912 in New Holstein the daughter of the late Dennis and Lillian (Schwaller) Werner. She was employed the Kresge Store in Appleton for 13 years, and moved to Milwaukee and was employed at Harnischfeger Corp. for 31 years until she retired in 1985. She loved rosemaling and often provided Barbie clothes for the St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary fund raising activities. She also made knitted baby caps and smocked infant gowns, which were given to parents who experienced the loss of an infant at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton.

She is survived by her step-daughter Marcia (Kenneth) Stein of Milwaukee, her step grandchildren Keith and Gary Stein, and Susan Larson; 7 step great grandchildren; her brothers Francis (Marguerite) Werner of Appleton and their children Peter of South Carolina, Judy of Madison and Jack of Florida; Victor D. (Hazel) Werner of Appleton and their children Dennis of Minnesota, Carol Deming of Germantown, Gary of Neenah, Victor J. of Kimberly, and Debbie Orth of Arizona; her sister Jeanette (George) Schaeffer of Appleton and their children Connie Nock of Darboy, Nancy Leig of Appleton, and Sharon Lyon of Appleton; her deceased sister and brother-in-law’s children Daniel Burhans, Donna Kargus, and Douglas Burhans all of Appleton.

She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar in 1986, her stepson Vernon Thompson, her sister and brother-in-law Delores (Donald) Burhans.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 East Fremont Street with the Rev. Robert Karuhn officiating. Friends may call at the Sacred Heart Room at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of the mass. A graveside committal service will take place at Arlington Park Cemetery in Milwaukee on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. . A memorial fund is being established.
