Age 93, died Monday March 25, 2002 at AMC. Esther was born April 22, 1908 to the late Fred and Augusta Sauer in Mattoon, WI. She married Clarence Mauritz on November 9, 1940 in Mattoon, he preceded her in death. Esther was an intelligent, well read, spirited individual who enjoyed telling a good story. She was well known as a caretaker to anyone in need. Esther enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting, gardening, camping, hiking and the adventure of the outdoors. She volunteered for various organizations including the Food Pantry, Community Clothes Closet, Hospitals and Orphanages.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Chrudinsky; a son, Orville (Sharon) Mauritz; eight grandchildren, Donna (Jay Adams) Bushman; Ron (Sharon) Chrudinsky; Lorrie Mauritz; Dawn (Doug) Doughty; Terry Chrudinsky; Carrie (Tom) Georgeson; Michael (Heidi) Mauritz; Scott (Amber Miles) Chrudinsky; thirteen great grandchildren, Aarron, Timothy, Cassandra, Amanda, Christopher, Mellissa, Samantha, Eric, Allison, Joshua, Andrew, Ashlynn and Matthew Scott Mauritz (deceased); five sisters in law, Beryl, Mildred, Helen, Marion and Alice (Butch) Martin; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2002 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton with Pastor Lyle Luchterhand of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dale officiating. Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday at the Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Thursday at the Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until the time of service.

A memorial is being established in her name.
