Age 88, passed away on Monday morning, February 11, 2008 at Emerald Valley Assisted Living Center. Slim was born on December 23, 1919 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin to the late Christ and Helen (Schlack) Depner. Slim proudly served his country as a Medic with the United States Army during WWII. In 1951 he married Carole Myers and they shared 39 wonderful years until she preceded him in death in 1990. Slim worked for 35 years at the Kimberly Clark Lakeview Mill before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed walking at the mall, shooting pool, playing cards, traveling, taking car rides, and gardening.

Slim will be sadly missed by his children: Karen (David) Bachmayer, Conover, WI, David Depner, Appleton, Donald (Laura) Depner, Menasha; grand-children: Jason (Deb) Depner, Appleton, Michelle (Gregg) Mader, Appleton; great-grandchild: Gabriel Depner, Appleton; brother: Lyman (Joan) Depner, Mountain, WI; sister: Martha Muenster, Menasha; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his loving wife, Carole, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Art, Orville, Norman, Edward, Norwood, and one infant brother; sisters: Emma, Elsie, Stella, Anne, and one infant sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church (912 North Oneida Street) with Rev. Larry Matthews officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment with full military honors will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. Register book can be viewed and signed at www.wichmannfargo.com. The family would like to thank AseraCare Hospice, especially Cheryl Montag, R.N. and Chaplain Mike, and the staff at Emerald Valley Assisted Living for the loving care given to Elmer.
