HEUBLEIN, ELMER CARL

Elmer C. Heublein, 94, of Appleton, Wisconsin, was called to Eternal Life on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, after a short stay at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on October 20, 1913, in the Town of Herman, Dodge County, R.R. Mayville, Wisconsin, to the late Charles and Helena (Lentz) Heublein. He was married to Mable Fratzke on August 26, 1945. Mable passed into Eternal Life on February 12, 1975, after 30 years of marriage and raising a family of three boys. On July 8, 1978, Elmer married Lona Gaylord McBrair and enjoyed 30 more years of marriage. Elmer graduated from Mayville High School and then from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with an Engineering Degree. He was employed in various engineering jobs over the next several years. In 1950 he began his career as a sales representative in the farm equipment industry and for the last 18 years was an independent manufacturer's representative in Michigan. In retirement he became a member of the Appleton Kiwanis Noon Club, and enjoyed many years with the Friendship X Investment Club. He enjoyed traveling, always searching for by-ways and new places to explore. Hunting and fishing were among his interests. Elmer hunted elk in Washington and deer in northern Wisconsin. He went on various fishing trips to Washington, Northern Minnesota and Canada. Elmer spent many happy hours at the bridge table. But most of all he was devoted to his church, Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran, and enjoyed so much his weekly Bible classes. Elmer is survived by his wife Lona; and his three sons, Carl Heublein, Santa Clarita, California; John (Therese) Heublein, Enumclaw, Washington; and Thomas (Nancy) Heublein, Seattle, Washington; and his grandson, Shaun Heublein, Kent, Washinton. In Lona's family he is survived by her daughters Nancy Olson, Madison, Wisconsin; Mary (David) Erickson, Elk River, Minnesota; five granddaughters, Megan Erickson, Kelly Erickson, Sarah (Olson) Moriva, Jen Olson, and Anne Olson; and two great grandsons, Aaron and Brady Moriva. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Elmer was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Heublein. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 East Florida Avenue, Appleton, Wisconsin, 54911 with Rev. Joel Zank officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Mayville. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
